The In-Between

Wow.

Just read this quote on a friend's Facebook page and it really hits home. Moving overseas has been the hardest thing we've ever done. Hands-down. We are hopeful it will also be the most rewarding thing we've ever done (with the exception of having our children, of course!). Right now we are landing somewhere in the middle... we can see the benefits, particularly in the school. This is a great opportunity for us professionally and an even better opportunity for our children in terms of the people and places they'll get to meet and experience. We are beginning to have those "a-ha" moments when we are in the stores, walking to school, driving around, and seeing bits and pieces of this gorgeous city. It's going to take time to feel settled and we need to remember that. We have only been here one month and yet we are placing these huge expectations on ourselves and our kids that aren't realistic... or fair.

Many of you know how beautifully this opportunity unfolded for us, before, during, and after we were hired. My husband isn't the most religious man but even he believes that we have been guided to Budapest by the hand of God. It's what we're meant to do at this time in our lives. I really can't say it more simply than that. It is what I, what we, often prayed for... guidance, wisdom, and comfort in knowing and believing this was the right decision for our family. And yet, following this guidance is a difficult thing right now.
